Frequent Asked Questions

Checking In and Out?

In order that we may prepare your accommodation to a high standard, check out is at 10:30am on the day of departure; and check in time on day of arrival is 16:30 to 20:00.  This can be, most times, varied by mutual agreement.

Guaranteed Early Check-In?

If you need to guarantee early access to your room (for example, to prepare for attending a wedding) we can plan to keep the previous night unoccupied for a lost-profit fee of £20.

Parking?

Loads.  All off-road.  Out-of-sight if needed.  Even locked-up can be arranged.

Payment Methods?

We are always delighted to accept BACS tranfers or Debit/Personal Credit Card Payments.  We trust that you'll understand that payment by Master Cards or Business Credit Cards should have the appropriate larger tranactional fee added.    The only popular cards we cannot take is American Express or Diners.

Need to cancel?

When we mail (or text) you to confirm your booking, we have entered into a contract to provide you with your chosen accommodation. Reasonably, you have also entered into a contract to use and pay for it.

If you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as you possibly can because we will make our very best endeavours to re-let.  We take the attitude that, if we can rent out the accommodation, then there is no loss, so there is no cancelation fee. Not only that, if we haven't been turning others away before you cancelled, we won't pretend we've lost out and attempt to charge you.

If we have turned others away AND we can't re-let, then cancelation simpy incurs your obligation to take the edge off our loss of profit (£20 per room per night in the B&B or one-third of the agreed rental for Self-Catering). We beleive that this is honourable.  If you agree, then you're our kind of guest and we'll never try to rip you off.

If you have travel insurance, often included by banks as an account benefit, we will provide supporting documents for any claim that you need to make.

Smoking?

Only ever outside.  For everyone's safety and comfort.  Guests abusing this rule will need to leave and pay £25 per room for fumigation.

Children?

We’re delighted to provide accommodation for your children on the condition that we can rely upon your effective supervision in all matters concerning enjoyment of accommodation, safety and security.

Dogs & Cats?

Sorry, not in the B&B - unless for your assistance. Discuss the matter with us if looking for self-catering - there are options.

Your expectations of security should acknowledge our policy of providing you and other guests with keys for general access to public areas and you for your rooms/cottages.  We are pleased to confirm that there have been no cases of theft since we started welcoming guests in 2002 but, sadly, we cannot accept responsibility for any theft in in the future.  We recommend that you check that your household or similar insurance covers such when-travelling losses.  Obviously we would support you in any report or claim insofar as it is proper to do so.

Responsibility for Losses It is of the essence of our contract that we and you take full responsibility to each other (& you and other guests directly to each other) for any and all losses arising from our, your or other guests' actions, errors and omissions; this being interpreted by the application of these terms and conditions under English law.
